Reading at Little Digmoor

At Little Digmoor 'reading is promoted well. Phonics (letters and the sounds that they make) are taught effectively. Pupils enjoy reading. Their skills in reading have improved significantly.' (OFSTED 2016)

'Stay and Read'

Both Early Years and KS1 offer 'Stay and Read' sessions once a week. This gives parents the opportunity to come into school and read with their child / children for 20 minutes in the morning. 'Stay and Read' was a huge success last year, and we are looking forward to continuing with this again, this year.  To find out the set day for 'Stay and Read', please speak to your child's class teacher.

'Reading for Pleasure'

Throughout KS2 and KS1, the children are given the opportunity to 'read for pleasure' with peers and teachers. Often these books are challenging, but very interesting. It is a way of exposing the children to high quality texts and gives them the opportunity to discover reading together.
